About Our Food Court Sculpture

Rubber band, paper clip, that big brown thing...

You may have seen the sculpture in our Food Court and wondered what it is.

Returning Column was created by renowned South Australian sculptor Greg Johns as part of the centre's 2005 redevelopment.

Returning Column, which stands seven metres tall, was chosen by Johns because of its link to the Australian landscape and the strong Australian feel Elizabeth has.

“The plantings and eucalypts in the region to me are so Australian and I wanted the piece to reflect this,” says Mr Johns.

“The vertical piece was from designs I worked on in the 90s, so I was thrilled to bring it to life at Elizabeth. The form responds well to the architecture of the space along with the ochre colour.

“It was a great project to work on and I’m pleased to give the Elizabeth community what I hope they will consider a high quality art piece.”
